Debenhams in Advance Negotiations as Anchor Tenant at Elgin's Proposed Springfield East Retail Development

Debenhams is in advance negotiations to become the anchor tenant at the proposed 50,000 square feet retail development at Springfield East in Elgin, Morayshire. The new development by Elphinstone, in association with Property Investment Partnerships, is expected to receive final planning permission in Autumn 2008, with trading commencing in Summer 2009.

The development, at the heart of Elgin's retail park area, located at the intersection of Linkwood Road and New Elgin Road and minutes from the High Street, will have parking for approximately 310 cars. Its high quality design boasts flexible unit sizes with mezzanine capabilities likely to appeal to retailers' latest requirements.

Elphinstone CEO, Ken Ross OBE, said: We are delighted that Debenhams have progressed to this stage and share our vision for Springfield East. We look forward to working with Debenhams and other retailers to deliver this exciting retail opportunity in Elgin and Moray.

Said PIP's Colin Whitelaw: The development fulfils the local authority's determination to retain retail spending power in Elgin and Moray's 92,400 population area rather than see it leak out to Inverness and Aberdeen.

Elphinstone and Property Investor Partnership are currently in discussions with a select number of retailers.  The appointed letting agent is Andy Wright of Wright & Co, 5 Blythswood Square, Glasgow, G2 4AD, telephone 0141 225 6277.
