Planning Received for Elgin Retail Park

The retail consortium comprising Elphinstone and Broom Estates Ltd are delighted that the Scottish Government has backed their planning appeal for a £20 million retail development in Elgin.

The 6 acre site, formerly a saw mill, will be developed as a 70,000 sq ft retail park "Springfield East".

Ken Ross, Chairman and Chief Executive of Elphinstone commented "We are pleased the reporter has decided to grant our application, and feel that common sense has prevailed.  This will be good news for shoppers, a major boost for retail jobs and a shot in the arm for the construction industry."

A number of major retailers have already expressed an interest in letting the available space. Elphinstone intend to start construction in spring 2010, with the buildings ready for occupation in late spring 2011.
