Elphinstone currently holds an interest in approximately 200 acres of land around Mauricewood in Penicuik.

Midlothian council agreed by resolution to adopt the Midlothian Local Plan in December 2008.  This released in excess of 100 acres of the land for residential development.  This land is mainly owned by a consortium of housebuilders, led by CALA, who Elphinstone are working with to promote residential planning consents on the site.  Part of Elphinstone Estates land holding at Mauricewood, approximately 25 acres, also forms part of the residential release.

Now that the local plan has been adopted, further planning negotiations will follow to maximise the potential of the land and ensure the development integrates successfully into Penicuik.
